October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and at FFK, we are honoured to highlight a story that reminds us why protection, preparation, and purpose are at the heart of living fully.
In the latest episode of the
Chellan’s journey is one of strength, early action, and a powerful reminder that being healthy does not always mean being protected.
“I was going to the gym four times a week, eating properly, doing everything right,” Chellan recalls. “Then one day, I found a lump in my breast. My sister, who’s a doctor, told me to check it out, and that decision saved my life.”
At just 38 years old, Chellan faced a whirlwind of tests, biopsies, and surgeries. Her mother had passed from breast cancer at 35, and genetic testing later revealed that she carried a rare condition called Li-Fraumeni Syndrome, which significantly increases her risk of developing multiple cancers throughout her life.
But one thing stood between fear and survival: health insurance.
“Health insurance saved my life,” she shares. “My sister insisted I get coverage, even when I felt I couldn’t afford it. That decision made all the difference. The surgeries, the chemo, the treatments… I couldn’t have done it without it.”
From chemotherapy costing up to $90,000 per session, to follow-up injections costing over $300,000 each, Chellan’s story exposes the real financial toll of cancer care and the peace of mind that comes with being insured.
“If I could go back, I’d get critical illness coverage too,” she admits. “You just never know what life will bring. I always tell people: don’t wait until you’re sick to apply. You may not get approved. Get it while you’re healthy.”p>
A Lesson in Preparedness
Chellan’s resilience is deeply inspiring, but it also reinforces a key truth: insurance isn’t just for older people or those with existing conditions. It is for anyone who wants to safeguard their future and their family’s peace of mind.
At FFK, we understand that life comes with unexpected turns. That’s why through FFK Life/Spartan, our focus is on providing coverage tailored to your personal and family needs, both locally and internationally.

As Chellan reminds us:
“Fighting this disease is 90% mental. You can treat the body, but if you give up mentally, you can’t win. That’s why I keep going. Because from you have life, you have a chance.”
